CrossFit athlete Mario Torruco dies of heart attack during iF3 Masters World Championship

The CrossFit community is mourning the loss of Mario Torruco, a Mexican masters athlete who collapsed last Friday at the iF3 Masters World Championships in Aruba. He was competing in the Men's 30-34 category and suffered a heart attack during his first competition day.
Torruco was immediately taken to a hospital on the island but did not survive. His death was announced this weekend. The news hit hard within the international CrossFit community.
The incident raises fresh questions about medical supervision and safety protocols at major CrossFit events. iF3 is the international federation that organizes Masters CrossFit competitions outside the official CrossFit LLC structure.
Torruco leaves a void in the Masters scene. He was between 30 and 34 years old and represented Mexico at the international level. The organization has yet to release an official statement on how the competition will proceed following this tragic loss.
