Dearden trains without carbon shoes ahead of Hyrox Tenerife

Jake Dearden is taking a different approach in his preparation for the new Hyrox season. Over the past few weeks he has been doing all his training in regular running shoes, without a carbon plate. His reasoning: the reps become harder and he keeps his paces more honest.
For races and key sessions he simply switches back to his carbon shoes. Whether the approach pays off remains to be seen.
On Sunday, Dearden covered 21 kilometres, with an interval block of seven times one kilometre at 3:20/km alternated with a recovery kilometre at 3:50/km. The schedule was put together by coach Alfie Manthorpe.
In less than two weeks, his first Hyrox singles race of the season is on the agenda, in Tenerife. He refers to it in his original post on Instagram.
