Hyrox and World Triathlon join forces with new Hybrid Racing partnership
Hyrox and World Triathlon have announced an official partnership that makes Hybrid Racing a recognised discipline within the global triathlon organisation. This is a major step for the fast-growing fitness sport, which now gains institutional recognition alongside established sports such as triathlon and duathlon.
Under the agreement, Hyrox will organise official world, continental and national championships for elite athletes in the so-called Ultimate format, which corresponds to the current Hyrox competition format. Two additional formats will also be introduced, aimed at making the sport more accessible to different types of athletes.
For Dutch participants, this means that official national championships could be held in the future that count within the World Triathlon system. This potentially opens doors to new selection pathways and international recognition for top performances.
The question now is when the first official championships under this partnership will take place and which athletes will be the first to qualify for a World Triathlon-sanctioned Hyrox championship.
