More suspensions handed down for identity fraud at Online Semifinals

CrossFit has once again sanctioned athletes and officials following fraud during the Online Semifinals. Three individuals received two-year suspensions after it was determined that 'judge misrepresentation' had taken place, meaning someone posed as another person during the judging process.

One of the athletes affected is Turkish CrossFitter Eren Yayla. He was initially ranked 45th on the leaderboard, but dropped to 282nd following CrossFit's investigation. The reason: his head judge, Yagmur Karablutu, allegedly impersonated another person while judging his competition submissions.

Both received two-year suspensions. This is not the first time CrossFit has issued sanctions in connection with the 2025 Online Semifinals. The organization appears to be enforcing its rules strictly in order to protect the integrity of the online competition format.

The case highlights the challenges of online competitions, where verifying the identity of judges remains a vulnerable point. For the CrossFit community, it serves as a reminder that the rules are taken seriously even in at-home competitions, and that violations carry significant consequences.
