Von Rohr lifts 121 kg: Swiss women's record in clean & jerk

16 June 2026, 11:18 (39 days ago) · BurpeeTalk News editorial

Mirjam von Rohr has delivered a historic performance at a weightlifting competition, lifting 121 kilograms in the clean & jerk to break the Swiss women's record and become the first female weightlifter from Switzerland to surpass the 120-kilogram mark.

A notable detail: von Rohr cycled 30 kilometers to the competition venue that morning. The athlete competes across multiple sports simultaneously and takes part in weightlifting competitions only a handful of times per year, making opportunities for attempts like this rare. But when they come around, she says she is ready.

In her post, von Rohr reveals that she considered quitting weightlifting a few months before the competition, not out of a lack of passion, but due to the logistical pressure of combining multiple high-level sports. That doubt now appears to be behind her, at least for the time being: she has her sights set on a 130-kilogram clean & jerk.

Interestingly, the technical achievement was not even her biggest personal victory of the day. In her message, she points to the way she handled the pressure, something she also demonstrated four weeks earlier at the French Throwdown. For her full post, visit her Instagram account @mirjam_v.r.
