American CrossFit box has introduced more than 2,300 students to the sport

A remarkable partnership in the United States shows how a CrossFit box can introduce an entire generation of students to the sport. CrossFit on the Plains, based in Auburn, Alabama, has been offering classes to Auburn University students since 2011.
What started as a trial with just twelve students has grown into a fully accredited elective within the university's physical education curriculum. Each semester, around 75 students enroll in the course, which is built entirely around the CrossFit methodology.
From the first class in 2011 to today, more than 2,300 students in total have taken part in the program. Generation after generation is introduced to functional training and the CrossFit philosophy for the first time through the university.
This initiative demonstrates the role a local box can play in raising awareness of the sport. For the Dutch CrossFit community, it offers inspiration to pursue similar partnerships with schools or colleges.
