Hyrox grows explosively: 2 million participants and 107 races in the 2026/27 season

Hyrox continues to grow at a blistering pace. For the 2026/27 season, the organisation has announced it will scale up to 107 events across the globe. With this expansion, the format aims to accommodate as many as two million participants, an ambition that firmly establishes the sport as one of the fastest-growing fitness events in the world.
To cope with the overwhelming demand, Hyrox is experimenting with a longer event format. Competition weekends could be extended to formats of up to ten days, allowing more waves and categories of participants to be served at a single location. This is a direct response to the oversubscribed registrations and sold-out races that have repeatedly caused frustration in recent seasons.
For Dutch Hyrox enthusiasts, this is good news. The chances of securing a spot, domestically or internationally, increase considerably with this expanded schedule. Whether the Netherlands itself will receive additional races on the calendar has yet to be confirmed, but the broader schedule at least offers more opportunities to find a race nearby.
The announcement confirms that Hyrox has no intention of hitting the brakes in the years ahead. With this scaling up, the organisation is explicitly positioning itself alongside major sporting events such as running marathons, with the ambition of claiming a permanent place in the sporting calendars of millions of people.
