Mirjam von Rohr on athlete support: 'I used to miss competitions because of a lack of money'

6 August 2026, 07:43 (3 hours ago) · BurpeeTalk News editorial

Mirjam von Rohr is now a two-time CrossFit Games athlete, but her road to get there was not without obstacles. In her early years she was an Elite 15 athlete at HYROX, a level at which you are already competing seriously among the world's best.

Yet she had to skip multiple major competitions outside Europe, even after qualifying for them. The reason was straightforward: she could not afford the travel costs and the loss of working hours.

Von Rohr is now speaking out through Capra Collective, an initiative that aims to reform the support model for functional fitness athletes. The organisation wants to prevent talent from stalling due to a lack of resources.

Her story touches a sensitive nerve in the CrossFit and Hyrox community: how do you ensure that talented athletes do not drop out before they can fulfil their potential?
