Gabi Migala withdraws from CrossFit Games 2026; Aline Wirz receives wild card

Gabi Migala has had an emotional year following a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered at the 2024 Rogue Invitational. A return to the CrossFit Games had finally seemed within reach, but another setback has now dashed those hopes: the Polish crossfitter has officially withdrawn from the 2026 Games in San Jose.

In her announcement, Migala said she would have loved to compete but that her body is simply not ready to perform at the highest level right now. She indicated that she does intend to return to competition in the future. The exact nature of her current injury or health situation was not specified.

Her withdrawal opens up a spot on the women's roster, which goes to Swiss athlete Aline Wirz, who receives a backfill invitation and will now compete in San Jose. For Wirz, it is a welcome opportunity to measure herself against the world's best.

For the CrossFit community, Migala's situation serves as a reminder of just how fragile the road to the Games can be, even for elite athletes who have already fought their way back from serious injury.
