McGonigle reveals knee injury after CrossFit Games

14 August 2026, 10:32 (40 days ago) · BurpeeTalk News editorial

Lucy McGonigle has returned from the CrossFit Games with an update on her knee: an MRI scan revealed she sustained a partial hamstring and patella tear. She shared the news via Instagram.

Surgery is not necessary, which she says is the most important thing. She notes that the injury is still painful, but that her recovery is progressing steadily. Walking, climbing stairs and bending the knee are all returning to normal, and she is able to load the knee a little deeper each day.

McGonigle is currently in a short recovery period before returning to her regular training schedule. For now, she is focusing primarily on mobility work and rehabilitation. When she will be fully back in action remains unclear.
